Behind The Scenes With Haute Couture Brand — On Aura Tout Vu

by - Tuesday, December 04, 2012

I was really delighted to receive a pair of invites to attend the exclusive On Aura Tout Vu " Meet the Designers (Livia Stoianova & Yassen Samouilov)" tea reception and fashion show. Special thanks to HerWorld and Samsung TV for making it happen as part of the Fide Fashion Weeks

During the fashion week, a Symposium on 'The Globalisation of Haute Couture' started on Friday on 30th Nov 2012 and ended with a closing finale on Sunday 2nd Dec 2012.  Held in association with the French Embassy in Singapore and hosted at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, this event explores how Haute Couture is evolving on the world stage.

Introducing On Aura Tout Vu, the house made its name creating exclusive fashion accessories for various Haute Couture brands before starting its own collections. In 2002 on aura tout vu by Livia Stoianova & Yassen Samouilov debuted its own haute couture collection and each year since has been an 'invited member' of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in France.

There were Asian and Japanese Couture shows too during the Fide Fashion Week, but On Aura Tout Vu belonged to the French Couture segment and is the final closing runway show for the night on 2nd Dec.

Tea Reception At TWG MBS
Not just a simple tea party, we actually got to meet the team behind the scene too. They were really awesome and down-to-earth!! Jeannie Mai was really bubbly and friendly :)  I was really honored to meet the widely acclaimed and renowned Creative Director Daniel Boey! It felt surreal to have this local talent, international star to be seated just besides us. Real honor and a rare expereince definitely.

I was listening to his interview on Power 98's Morning Breakfast Show just the other day when he was introducing the Couture Fashion Week 2012 and all of a sudden I see him live, like WOW, amazing! I wasn't prepared at all for such an exclusive small handful of us with a personal chat with Mr Daniel Boey and did not come prepared with questions nor did I do any 'homework' regarding fashion, Haute Couture, designers background checks, brands etc! Was totally such a 'greenhorn'.

Daniel chatted with us ( group of 8 ladies) using more laymen term when talking about fashion. Topics like how to choose clothing suitable for our own body types, the trends and colours for next year popped up. Not necessary to follow brands but rather and to wear your personal style. Of course, you have to be comfortable and confident to look good! He was a really funny and interactive person and of course made us feel more at ease. The group of us chatted at TWG for about 30-45mins ...

I love TWG's tea!! who doesn't ?
I love the warm muffins with tea jelly and whipped cream. On the right corner is the raspberry cheesecake :)
I am so in love with the raspberry muffins.... superb!

Then came the highlights when we were shifted from TWG to the show's backstage! how exciting.

Understanding Haute Couture
The entire session was really enriching and enables me to learn more about the Haute Couture's origins and its development. It was really an eye opener and I was thankful for the opportunity. I will definitely be following closely on future Couture Designers' updates.

Couture is this a huge international platform for all the designers to get creative, to express and to experiment. All of the designers' collections are painfully designed from sketch, hand made and hand sewn. Huge major brands like Christian Dior, Chanel, Atelier Versace, Elie Sabb have Couture shows every season throughout the year and their Front Row attendees are the rich and famous. You can just imagine how grand an affair the runways are and the importance of it all. To be part of this exclusive Couture Membership, designers must be in invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to present on the official Haute Couture calendar for continuous 4 seasons, before they can be 'certified' as a member.
We saw the models rehearsal for sat's show.

{Note: Oh man I am so sorry for wearing such casual clothes~!!!!!! I never, never imagine being able to go backstage, much less the chance to take photos with the renowned designers of  On Aura Tout Vu. I thought it was just a talk or something..... I was in such casual outfits as I was thinking only of the PSY event which happened later on in the same evening, where it will be hot and sweaty for sure, so I wore something light and simple.... -_-|| ( Yes PSY in MBS! and I had the tickets thanks to a friend)
Lesson learnt: Always research beforehand before attending any events....}

Anyway, took a photo with the very inspiring Creative Director- Daniel Boey. He looked very good!!Artistic and such a fashion icon....

Meeting On Aura Tout Vu
The second highlight came when we got the chance to meet and greet Livia Stoianova & Yassen Samouilov in person, up close ( Scream).  How honored and rare a chance was that! Do you know they are such big names in the Couture industry? Despite their fame, they were definitely friendly and ever so engaging. Love them! Too bad they were busy preparing for models' fitting and can't really talk to us much, so we just took photos! :)
