[What to do in Singapore] Marina South Pier/Marina Bay Cruise Centre

With the opening of the Marina South Pier Station in November 2014, Singaporeans now can have a new place of interest to explore. Getting to this most southern part of the island just gets easier.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery with the lovely sunsets plus if you are adventurous enough, depart on a 1 day trip to nearby Kusu or St John's Island.

Head up to the highest roof level of the pier and be treated to spectacular views and sunsets amongst the boats and ferries. There is even a playground for children.

At level one of the Marina South Pier is the ferry terminal boarding area and where operators are located for sales of tickets to the islands.

Pricing for non-privatised ferries are at $18 for adult and $12 for children for round-trip. This is the cheapest rate we believe, from a travel agent's booth there.

On the other hand, those operators housed in these type of individual booths, are much for expensive in terms of the ferry charges. Located in the waiting area, we believe they are run by private operators and perhaps engage better ferries? Can't really remember but the price difference is about 3 times more than the above.

Overlooking the far end is the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, looking majestically good on its on. Though we went there on a weekend we didn't see any cruises embarking at the centre and the centre seems to be closed unfortunately and we were not able to explore.

By the way, The Singapore Maritime Gallery is located on the 2nd level of Marina South Pier and is a fun place for kids and the young at heart to know more about the Maritime industry and its evolution over the years in Singapore.

Upon arrival at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, you can find another viewing spot...

...right along this stretch of cobbled stones, lies a peaceful sanctuary to watch the sea, relax and reflect. Another retreat for the mind and soul. It's hard to believe that such quietness exists with the CBD Shenton area just some distances away.
