OUE Downtown Gallery Sets Record for Longest Fruit Mosaic in Singapore

by - Thursday, July 13, 2017

OUE Downtown Gallery kicks off July with a series of events and experiences designed to inject vibrancy into the urban community in the Downtown Core area – starting with an attempt to set a record for Singapore’s Longest Fruit Mosaic on 2 July.

We witness the creating on a new record attempt a 200-metres-long fruit mosaic stretching the entire length of Downtown Gallery which brings together Singaporean youths from the Polytechnics and families.

While the youths went on working on the mosaic, the public was also encouraged to be part of this engaging and interactive creation and many were there since the early morning to help out.

Fruits Galore

Creatively panned out, the mosaic uses none other than the fruits we are familiar with in Singapore, using a mix of red and green apples, lemons and oranges.

Behind-the-Scenes

Markings were put in the individual crates to indicate the type of fruits to lay down. Thumbs up!

And here's the vantage viewpoint for a selfie with the Singapore's Longest Fruit Mosaic! A cheery vibrant colored mosaic just apt for the Downtown Gallery which aims to set vibes in the community.

What's meaningful is that following the event, the fruits were cleaned, repackaged and donated to the local communities including Kampong Chai Chee Community Club, Bishan Community Club and Hougang Sheng Hong Family Service Centre.

Zesty Treats

Patrons of the mall were also treated to a zesty affair with free treats from fruit-themed pop-ups on that day. I personally loved the FRESHE juice bar's fresh orange juices, lifestyle and fitness app GuavaLabs,  and the ice cream sandwiches from the gourmet grocer and café THE PROVIDORE. Set in the midst of the busy CBD district OUE Downtown Gallery has set itself to steer towards the working adults and inculcate as a  lifestyle and fitness hub, encompassing of fitness classes and health-orientated F&B options.

“It’s wonderful to witness an effort by our youths and community, led by Downtown Gallery, to create anew Singapore record,” said Patrina Tan, Senior Vice President of Retail, Marketing and Leasing of OUE Limited.

In line with the URA’s long-term plans of transforming the Downtown Core area into a work-live-play environment, OUE Downtown has undergone major transformation to bring to life the three pillars of ‘Look Well’, ‘Keep Well’ and ‘Eat Well’ within the development. Singapore’s Longest Fruit Mosaic will be the first in a series of themed events and experiences hosted at the new Downtown Gallery to engage with the community, so look out for more happenings in the future!

Open from 10.00 am – 9.00 pm daily

About OUE Downtown

Asset enhancement work is well underway to transform OUE Downtown to a mixed-use development, comprising office, serviced residences and a new stunning shopping mall with a 262-metre frontage.

OUE Downtown is a landmark development at 6 Shenton Way comprising two tower blocks – OUE Downtown 1 and OUE Downtown 2 – a podium and multi-storey car park. OUE Downtown 1 is a 50-storey building comprising three vertical zones, while OUE Downtown 2 is a 37-storey building.

This major transformation to become a mixed-use development is expected to inject vibrancy into the financial corridor between Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar and bring a new sense of belonging to an established urban community. As part of OUE’s efforts to maximize the property’s strategic location and to leverage on URA’s long-term plans to develop Tanjong Pagar into an enviable work-live-play environment, the low to mid-zones of OUE Downtown 1 is being converted into serviced residences
with full-fledged facilities. These will include indoor and outdoor dining areas, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and other recreational facilities. The existing podium is currently being converted into a retail mall named Downtown Gallery, while the high zone of OUE Downtown 1 and the entire OUE Downtown 2 will remain as premium office space.
