Ramen Keisuke
With eight ramen outlets already a hit with ramen-loving-Singaporeans and our never-dying loyalty to the holy grail soupy noodle cuisine from the Land of the  Rising Sun. Just look at how many ( 8 to be precise) ramen stores Chef  Keisuke Takeda already owns in Singapore, hailing all over the island from  Tanjong Pagar, Paya Lebar Square, Bugis, 100AM mall etc, there is simply no lack of us being ramen deprived — ever.
Though much as I love to pay the Ramen Keisuke Lobster King at Clarke Quay a visit, we happened to be in the orchard area and Kani instead of lobster would do just as well. Last I heard the Lobster King store is still threading long snaking queues even till now.

From Japan to Singapore, his ventures were not smooth sailing and like every human met with setbacks and difficulties. Despite so, Keisuke did not give up and things changed when he won the title of Ramen Champion at the Tokyo Ramen Championships in 2011. The rest is history.
Fast forward on his overseas venture to Singapore as his first stop,  he again met challenges when his first store opened at Millenia Walk but his perseverance and his willingness to tweak and cater to local taste, helped his venture and saw him setting up more stores over the years, each focusing on a different theme-flavor such as Tonkotsu, Tori, Lobster, Kani .
Thank you for being in Singapore. ( smiles)

How does Kani ( Crab) King Fare?
Not sure about the other ramen outlets, but this outlet at Cineleisure, is not just another ramen dining place where you slurp and go. This outlet is filled with lots of thoughtful decorative pieces relating to Japanese culture and crab, of course. If it wasn't that crowded and such a long queue waiting, we would have loved to spend more time chilling in inside and appreciating the little quirky displays.
We were there upon its opening at 5pm ++ and there were already 3 others in queue with many already seated in. The queue thereafter 6pm was horrendously long as well.
 So be there early!

Crab Broth Ramen Special
Clear soup $17.90; Rich soup $18.90
Rich soup is, as its name suggests, was thick and strong-flavored with the pure essence of crabs and chicken bones, mixed in with herbs, as a result from hours of simmering and brewing.
Personally, I prefer the clear soup which is more delectable and less jelat with a clean aftertaste. Rich or clear is really personal preference!
The ingredients in the Special version were on point, with slices of charsiews in different cuts (some with more fats than others), the onsen-like-jelly eggs, seaweed and bamboo shoots.

We had the Special version but there are other 'normal' versions as well, at a lower cost. You may also choose the kind of noodles to go with. If you are looking for traces of crab meat within the soup base, sorry to disappoint but there will be none. Comfort yourself by slurping on the soup instead.
Gladly, the portion was hearty and the ingredients and toppings generous.

Pork Gyoza
3 pcs $3
Gyoza was yummy and makes a good additional accompaniment to the hot pipping ramen. Crispy on the outside with ample meaty juiciness flowing on the inside.

In-house Green Tea Cola
$3.80
Seeing the pretty packaging, we order the bottled drink which tasted exactly like Cola with no hints of green tea. Okay, just once :)

Pick-a- Pickle
Not forgetting, plenty of sides and pickles for you to chew on while waiting for your ramen, repeated as with every outlet by Keisuke.
There are pickle beansprouts, spicy pickled cabbage ( the best!) and even boiled eggs.
All on the table for you.

As mentioned, the setup in the shop is really a arty 'mess'.  And little Kani inspired decorations everywhere too,.

Take note of the opening hours to avoid disappointment~
