Hello peeps!! Thanks for dropping by on a FRIIDAYYYY. I know right. Like Finally.
As mentioned on my IG,  I will be starting a series of travelogues, other than any other Singapore happenings now and then when the time comes, but other than those, I will cover series mainly on my travel adventures.

Latest updates, I was in Taichung and Taipei the week before from 8 April to 17 April made possible by EVA Airways and the adorable Hello Kitty Shining Star Jet that I took . The journey to and fro was made sweet by my journey on the Hello Kitty plane~ .More about that later. Oh Yes, this marks the 3rd solo trip I have embarked since and much more afternote to share thereafter about the Taiwan experience.
But before Taiwan, I was in HongKong for 4 days with my bestie ger JH. So more about that later!!

Introducing Taichung and its surrounding

This post deals with the 1 day trip many take from Taichung City Centre to other "out of reach" locations such as Xinshe, Zhongshe and Gaomei. Trust me after all the economical considerations, it is best to simply just engage a driver to drive you around instead of waiting out for the public buses in the outskirts of Taichung, which can be infrequent and slow.

Wall Mural Art Trail

First up, The Malipu Trail as it's loosely translated, is currently still a relatively unknown art trail which I had stumbled upon while doing research about Taichung. This trail borders a segment of the local shops/residential area in Malipu 马力埔 and spans about 1km, takes 15 mins ( if you don't stop ) and burns up to 94kcal if you walk back and fro. This trail can be reached when you your driver is driving on the way up to Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林 ( in the Xinshe 新社 area) from The Rainbow Village passing by Mushroom Farm 百菇庄 ( more about the rest in the next post).

History

This colorful painting trail is akin to Rainbow village, at a much smaller mode that is. Nonetheless, if you like colors and anything cultural, I would recommend definitely a short stop just to do some photography while on the way to other attractions.
Apparently Malipu 马力埔 is a community in Taichung well known for its agricultural produce as it sits on very fertile land and the locals have since been farmers for generations. During World War this area has also be used by Japanese to grow sugarcanes.
The murals are relatively new and reflects the marriage of modernization and old traditions. The whole trail is spotted with brightly painted colors and various displays of Taichung tradition culture and lifestyle showcase. Experience sparks of nostalgia.

Oink-oink pigs family. Pigs are a common sight in the farming trade in the past.
literally relating to 马 which means horses, these art forms greet visitors at the entrance of the trail.

Why mushrooms?
Well because Taichung is well known for their home-grown assorted varieties of shrooms. In particular, visitors can pack home shroom biscuits as gifts back home as a Taichung gift symbolism.

 Red 'Malipu' icons

You can spot them throughout the trail as markings along the way. See below the scene painted of locals harvesting and sorting through the shrooms. Such unique local flavor

Some murals are painted on warehouses

Flowers painted a rosy picture towards the agricultural scene

From afar, more details can be captured. Look at the left and you can see a vast plot of land portrayed showing farmers sowing the seeds. Very localized and intricate kind of art trail.

Fruits portray agricultural farming

All the drawings are painted vividly and portray messages which are very down-to-earth to Taichung's local culture. The peaches drawings below are paired with auspicious mandarin couplings about prosperity and wealth.

Tomatoes were also painted to represent what grows in the farms. The buildings behind are all residential estates.

There are many interesting sights carrying slogans such as the one below which loosely translated as ' Improve Agriculture Culture', which once again you can see fruits such as pears and oranges.

Adorable kitty spotted~

 Xin She Hua Hai 新社花海

Portray of a famous attraction in Taichung located slightly away from the city center as a colorful cherry lovely place to be.

Local Chinese Elements Comes To Life!

Walking along the trail, you can also witness scenes of Taiwanese festival celebrations.

Another local celebration scene. Conveyed in such lively strokes, they looked absolutely 3D!
Vastly striking was that fact that the wall murals lining the trail one after another stood out in contrast to the surrounding plain buildings.

and.. more, native Taichung/Taiwanese locals scene

These paintings look absoutely stunning and looks freshly done up recently.. Sakuras and all.

Fire crackling under the stove. Realistic right ?

Another mural showing colorful parrots flying. vividly and colorfully.

Immerse yourself in Taichung uniqueness
Let your driver know the address of  Malibu Trail 马力埔彩绘小径 and see if can fit it into your day trip. I love to explore and indulge in art formspaintings, sculptures whatnot and thus found the trail to be an interesting gateway into the local Taiwanese art scene and culture.
