[Cafe Hopping in Singapore] Honey Creme ( Orchard 313 Somerset)

by - Friday, January 23, 2015

You do know about the craze with this vanilla soft served ice cream served with honeycombs don't you? I guess it all started with Honey Creme in Singapore. This brand hails all the way from Korea and had just arrived on our shores last year. Since then, many other similar competitors have landed and there are currently many deals on websites such as Deal.com, Groupon etc.

One fine day, we paid a visit to find out what the fuzz was about at Honey Creme.

Here's the price list:
Original ($4.60), Comb Honey ($5.50), Honey Comb ($5.90), Affogato ($5.50), Organic Cotton Candy ($5.90), PopCorn ($5.90) to Organic Mixed Grains ($6.20) – topped with flax seeds, black sesame, barley, oats and rye.

To be honest, it's just soft served ice cream topped with fancy, creative toppings.
Here's  the Organic Cotton Candy Affogato we ordered. Made from organic sugar spin into fluffy sweets piled onto of the soft vanilla and drizzled with espresso.
This combination is indeed different and a new play on the taste buds. Sweetness of the cotton candy and slight bitterness of the espresso makes the ice cream delectable.
The downside? The cotton floss melts too easy into the ice cream and eventually into nothing. Resulting in quite a sticky mess.

Here's the 2nd version we ordered- PopCorn.
These caramel popcorn are imported from USA and topped around the soft serve ice-cream. The popcorn are not exactly crisp or crunchy which is a pity. If you don't have a sweet tooth, this can be a tad too sweet.

I would say these cups are visually appealing and makes lovely Instagram pictures. Worth a grab only if there are no horrendous queues we witnessed on the weekends. After all you can get soft serve at McDonald's- minus the queue and for only 50 cents. :)

Will the hype last? Only time will tell!
