[ Dining Korean Food in Singapore] Supulae 술불애- Korean BBQ @Tanjong Pagar
So after the Desigual Runway Show, I went down to my favourite Tanjong Pagar/Tras Street for some Korean style dinner.
On the way, I happened to pass by this street with some lovely wall paintings of fair maidens in the olden days, but if you step in closer, you will realize the irony behind the painting.
I will leave it to you to discover what they are. LaLaLa...
Walk along the bridal/ Korean eateries street and a short walk leads you to Supulae. I have long heard raves about their BBQ but how does reality matches up?
First up Banchan (side dishes) 반찬!! I judge how good the restaurant is based on the 반찬 they served and they sort of served as the first impressions.
They served some cold salad with dressings, Beansprouts, slices of odeng (fish cake)...
...Pickled cucumbers and Kimchi...
Personally?? I felt these were mediocre, pretty normal and I have been to Korean restaurants in Singapore serving much better varieties ( like pancake, anchovy, omelette) and in much generous portions. I will be introducing another Korean restaurant which serves awesome banchan, coming up soon, stay tune.
We ordered a BBQ set B at $48.90. Though it's stated for 2 pax, but we shared among 3 pax as the banchan (Korean side dishes)can be refilled and should be sufficient if we keep topping up.
Nevertheless, I was still pretty excited to try up the BBQ with its platter of chicken, pork, pork belly, sausages, mushrooms and assorted vegetables etc.
Cooking up a storm-by the server of course.
Thankfully we don't have to DIY. Plus like any BBQ restaurants, the smoke pipe keeps the air clean and us free of BBQ smell.
While the juicy meat was being cooked, wejust munched on our Banchan.
Oh yup, the set also comes with 2 rice bowls, Kimchi Soup and a Steam Egg to go along with.
I like my BBQ to come with lots of fried garlic, which unfortunately there isn't much. Wrap the meat with lettuce, finish it in 1 mouth, heavenly!
Finally the meat is all cooked and chopped up and we can tuck in!! Overall the meat was quite good, well marinated, tasty and tender. Worth a try, Love the meat! We asked for more lettuce as there wasn't enough, FOC.

Just discovered they do catering as well, and the food looks delicious!!! OMG... who needs catering ideas, should cater Korean food for your next event!
