Like sharing photos on Instagram? Why not do it for a good cause?

SNAP FOR A GOOD CAUSE
From now till 23 November, spot the “Ronald McDonald’s Big Red Shoes” bench at various locations around Singapore (see schedule below), and take a photo of yourself at the bench.

Post your photo on Instagram with the hashtag #mchappydaysg, and McDonald's Singapore will donate S$1 per photo, capped at 5000 entries, to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Singapore, an independent charity that has been running a “home-away-from-home” facility at NUH for families with children in intensive care.

What is behind "home-away-from-home" concept?
Mr Kitson Choong, Chief Operations Office (COO) of McDonald's Singapore, told us this facility was especially created for parents who wants to stay close to their hospitalized child, providing a resting place for them so as to eliminate the need to travel back and fro home.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities in Singapore
The first Ronald McDonald House Charities was established in memory of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc in 1984 to provide care and comfort to children and their families. In Singapore, the Charity was founded in 1989 as the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charity. Since 1989, the Charity has helped more than 900 needy children with medical, rehabilitative and surgical treatments costing more than S$5 million in grants.  The five most common requests for funding have been for medicines and drugs, nutritional supplements, handicap aids, leukaemia treatment and surgery. Since January 2013, RMHC® Singapore has been operating a Ronald McDonald House™ facility at National University Hospital. The charity was renamed the Ronald McDonald House Charities Singapore in 2011.
So now look out for these benches and Instagram to do your bit for charity:

Today (10 November ) also marks the McHappy Day where 500 McDonald's staff volunteers hit the streets from 130pm to 530pm to sell "Ronald Smiles" to raise funds for RMHC. Members of the public would have had the chance to buy a “Ronald Smile” for just S$2 from the staff volunteers and have the proceeds donated to RMHC.

All proceeds from both McHappy Day fundraising activities will go to RMHC to support its operations of RMH at NUH and McDonald’s is looking to raise a total of S$20,000.

We were happy to witness and join in the joyous occasion of witnessing about 150 staff volunteers flaged-off today at McDonald’s Jem restaurant. I deeply admire their positive attitude and mindset in truly enjoying every moment of their job in McDonald's with all their heart. Pride and joy in a job they so love.

Okay anyway back to today's McHappy Day, we were greeted by waves of red and happiness.

  And Ronald Mcdonald !

Even the staff are all excited to snap photos with Ronald

With the bloggers

And since McDonald is such a happy place, we bumped into a pair of cute twins who were in the midst of celebrating their birthday! CUTE CUTE CUTE.

Best well wishes for the kiddies

Tada- We were presented with the latest EBI BURGER!

Seriously, It was love at first bite! You seriously can see whole little pieces of shrimps in the burger.

Not just a patty prawn paste all mashed up together as I  had thought, I was pleasantly surprised with the fleshy shrimps in the patty.

Another yummy new item- the Banana Pie! Absolutely Delicious without being over oily.

Drooling already??

Curry Shakers Fries and the new Tropical Tango Mc Fizz

We later had a chitchat with Mr Kitson Choong, COO of McDonald's Singapore on the idea and meaning behind their charity initiatives and motivations. It was really insightful what Mr Choong shared with us and definitely an applaudable act by McDonald's in giving back to the society.

A photo with Mr Kitson Choong COO of McDonald's Singapore.

And later on we had a change to talk to 2 of the staff on why they volunteer for the company's charity initiatives. Basically a happy family work style in Mcdonald's has spurred its staff to explore and expand their capabilities in helping the needy around.
Isn't this an inspiring work environment everyone yearns to be in?

Group pic!!

With OMY planner behind this event- Janet!!

   N a new-found blogger acquittance- Fif ^^

I hope you have bumped into the staff from McDonald's and made a donation today!! On behalf of them I thank YOU.
Remember the Instagram charity initiative is still on-going till 23rd November so hurry up and do your part.
