[Travel in Malaysia] Malacca sights and Hatten Hotel Melaka review

by - Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Travelled to Malacca for 2 days 1 night on a Saturday weekend. My gal and I bought our package deal which includes hotel stay and coach services from Groupon Singapore and paid a total of about $105+. Reasonably priced but the bus journey was horribly long. Even without jam at the Causeway, it took about 5-6 hours!!!
I wonder how stiffening  it will be when I travel to KL in June by coach:(

First stop, satisfy the growling stomach at a nonya restaurant~~

The Megamall directly opposite Hatten Hotel, which we stayed.

the food~~ Curry fish, egg with chin cha lok, chicken in soya sauce and fried kang kong

KTM~~

A’Famosa Fort aka Porta de Santiago

Walking uphill is a lovely place- Ruins of St Paul’s Church where St Francis Xavier was once buried

 The famous-The Stadthuys

Elaborately decorated rickshaws are everywhere in Malacca~~~

Hello kitty spotted on the rickshaw.
The rides unfortunately don't come cheap and adds up to be more expensive than taking a cab.

Fountain with no water flowing -_-

River cruise~~ but we didn't manage to ride it~

It was quite a lovely sight akin to Petite France maybe?

Church of St. Francis Xavier

Another random Fort we found, right behind the Tourism Information Centre

 wow~~ water wheel cart

Located just before the entrance of Jonker Street

 Chinatown
This place has got to be the highlight of the trip where most delicious cuisines and shopping can be found.

The Chinatown street- Jonker Walk . The stalls only starts operating on weekends in the evening from 5pm onwards.

There are many shops you can shop in, stalls you can buy street food from and cute stuff you can buy as gifts.

Love Nonya Kuehs!!! YUMMMY~~~~ chewy and so soft. Too much good food but we only have 1 night and 1 stomach. Pity!

Lok Lok on the pushcart!!~~

YUMMY!! first time looking and eating from such a stylish stall.... hahaha

the stall owner will fried the sticks that you want to fry. For those you want to boil, DIY in the little boiling portholes in front of you/

Famous San Shu gong cafe~~~ + confectionery store where you can buy all the chinese traditional biscuits and goodies back home.

   Cute orang utan~~

More shops along Jonker Streets and their nostalgic, rustic kind of architecture

We saw a procession from the Indian community, but it wasn't Thaipusam. Not sure what was the occasion though.

Malacca ice chendol~~ Durain flavour

The famous Chung Wah Chicken Rice Ball.
Was really delicious... Love it. Their store is located just at the entrance of Chinatown, in front of San Shu Gong.

 Are you drooling already? ^^

I am moving on to introduce one of the best hotel I have stayed in centuries!!!
Please make Hatten Hotel your accommodation choice next time round when you are in Malacca. The deal we bought happened to partner with Hatten and we were so pleasantly surprised by its lux and classy feel, at such an affordable price!!

The hotel was like seriously AWESOME! Staying in was my favourite part of the trip, I wish I could have stayed on more days in the hotel, just relax and not head out into the hot sun~~~

Gym overlooking Melaka city
Even the hotel lobby spells Bling Bling~~

Inside the hotel suite, which is practically heaven with the comfy beds!! So super awesome.

So that's the end of my post!! I
t was fairly easy to travel around in Malacca from the city centre either by walking or taking a cab if the weather is too hot.
Have fun in Malacca!!

  2. A week before the trip, I sent Mr. Won our itinerary, a well-thought-out one. It took a while for us to figure which places we wanted to visit with the limited time we had, טיסות לחול
