Antoni Gaudí - He Who Started It All

Spain is the birthplace of Antoni Gaudí and any art buff would not miss the chance to witness the works of this renowned Catalan Modernist. The master creations of Gaudí are inspired by organic shapes of nature and is a marriage of religion, nature and architecture.

I was extremely excited to appreciate his masterpieces right where it was born.

The trick here is really not to rush and take your time. Better still if your companions appreciate visual art as much as you do.

Conveniently located in the main grand shopping district of Barcelona's Passeig de Gràcia littered with modernist breathtaking architectures housing fashion and lifestyle brands — high street from Puma to Mango exclusive high-end brands such as LV and Prada — there is not only shopping to be done but plenty of sightseeing too.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is one such unique outstanding structure, a witness to Modernism and a legend right smacked in the heart of Barcelona and is really a sight to behold.

You can't miss out its "weird", seemingly out-of-this-world facade once you come face to face with the house. Curvy flows made up the outline as if melting at a convergent point altogether. Distorted looking windows and pretty coloured-stained glasses reflected upon the sunshine, decorated with lots of mosaics and ceramic tiles.
The asymmetrical game here is strong. Things looked distorted yet are upright.

Pure Magical and enchanting. Casa  Batlló is a place to discover hidden treasure.  Enjoy this little piece of wonderland.

Spot It

From afar, the Casa Batlló is not the easiest to recognise especially since it's flanked by other modernist buildings at its side. Here's how it looks like amongst the other buildings.

However, on closer scrutiny, you will be able to easily point out and spot the differences the Battlo has that's unqiue to its own.

TIPS: Purchase Tickets in Advanced

For free-and-easy travellers, it's important to purchase and book your tickets ONLINE prior to your visit. This will skip you plenty of queues and waiting time. Definitely essential.
However, you have to first determine which day and time slot to visit, stick to it and make sure you turn up on that slot. No changes will be entertained.

Smartguide-VR (Virtual Reality)

Each entry tickets includes an audio guide and an interaction handset.
Even before Pokemon Go took the world by storm, VR technology was used in Casa Batlló. Take your time to walk and listen to the guide at your own pace for an enchanting and engaging experience in the casa.

Catch Pokemon?  No. Rather, see visuals come alive, Pretty fascinating stuff.

Sunlight beamed in through the windows when there was none, creating a virtual magical feeling.

The pitstop if you need a rest from all that walking.

Modernist bathroom with arty basins.

Roof Terrace

Don't miss out on heading to the roof terrace and be rewarded with a panoramic view of downtown Barcelona. It was whimsical and almost fairy-like all at once.

Be there to experience the flow and the life of Gaudi and his inspirations behind the designs of Casa Batllo.
