Vinyl is one of
the cheapest ways to cover your floors and comes in sheet forms. This is an extremely popular choice among homeowners, especially those
living in HDBs.

Advantages of Vinyl

Source
- Easy maintenance with its smooth surface and resistance to stains, dirt, and water.
- Printed in sheets and thus very easy to reproduce certain designs or colors that you are looking for.
- Economically priced
- Ease of installation i.e. can be layered over existing floorings without the need for hacking.
Why Vinyl Is Not All Roses
While you might be rejoicing over the ease of Vinyl and looks set on choosing it, here are some considerations.
- Check with your supplier if the vinyl you are getting is water resistance. Most vinyl collects water in the joints over time.
- Though vinyl sheets can be printed in a variety of designs, they will never beat the hardy look of stones or tiles
- Ensure your contractors are experienced and skilled enough to perform installation of vinyl sheets floorings. The substrate has to be completely flat and free of particles else these bumps will be reflected in a very obvious manner after installation and will be unsightly.
- As vinyl are just sheets layered ontop, constant movement of furniture with hard and sharp legs, walking with high heels or rolling of wheel chairs will be detrimental to the condition of vinyl eventually. So there is still a need to be caution.
The choice ultimately is yours to decide which type of floorings you will prefer for your home.
As for my home, we will still be going on with marble tiles. Hope this article helps!
