Cheese + Tarts
There is absolutely no stopping Singaporeans and our love for food. Especially when it comes to overseas franchises. Baked Cheese Tarts ( aptly known) arrived on our shores piping hot on 29 April 2016 and caused quite a stir when they started out on their first day of operations. Based in Ion Orchard, there will no doubt be lack of footfall even after the cooling period. First set up in Japan, this brand is now widespread in Asia countries outside of Japan such as in Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand and now Singapore.

What started off as chilled blueberry cheese tarts revolved into baked cheese tarts, originating from Sapporo, Hokkaido, when they sold off the tarts, unchilled in a coincidence, freshly bake with a fluffy crisp and crunch!

 The rest is history.
On another note, the tarts are neatly, carefully placed and spaced to ensure they stay in-shape.

Many Ways to Indulge
There are so many local superb reviews of their cheese tarts I don’t need much more introduction or elaborations do I? Simply put, the warm cookie-like crust envelopes the milky cheese moouse making it licking-good. Not too overly sweet or cloying.
From what I read, the cheese moose is made from a combination of 3 different cheese for the perfect bland that it is now.
A thoughtfully-put instruction card on how to best eat the tarts is given complimentary with the purchase of every box of 6 tarts and more.  After the tedious wait you don’t have to eat up all the tarts all at once. The tarts can last another 2- 3 days in the fridge and you can eat them chill/frozen (!) or toast/ reheat them in the oven again.

Queue?
Priced at $3.50 /pcs and being on the higher price end does not defray our passion/ curiosity/ determination to endure the long queue and savor a piece of cheese heaven.  The queue was seriously long up to 2/3 hours in the opening phase of the store and now, despite being a month into the craze now, I just see snaking queues though it seemed shorter. I wonder what’s the duration for the queue now?

Where in Singapore?
Anyway, if you are in Singapore and want to purchase, head over to the atrium just outside ION’s Watsons @B4, where the queue starts. This was set up away from the store front to prevent overcrowding. You will be able to spot the store personnel at the start of the queue line. After which, they will direct you over to the store for collection once your turn is up.

Anytime for Thou
The tarts are delish snacks to have anytime of the day but I would probably wait for the queue to fizz off before buying again! I mentioned in my Hong Kong post, that there was no queue at all and the standard of quality and taste is the same having been shipped over from Japan from the first crust baked and baked again locally with cream cheese.
