[What to do in Singapore] Art Exhibitions: Dreamworks Animation and The Deep @The Art Science Museum

by - Thursday, August 13, 2015

♠♠ Thoughts: Sometimes I just don't understand. Seems like they are only out there to make use of each other to attain some social status. Are they really treating each other with a real heart? Hard to say. I am just disappointed how some people will be so rude just to get some fame. I just want to say don't ever forget how you got started and how true friendships began because once the trust is gone, it will never come back. ♠♠ Work life?

Alright, just some randoms on the complicating social world we are living in now.

Now for a more lighthearted post. Today's article will cover the as of now, still ongoing exhibitions at The Art Science Museum.
Both well curated, you will definitely have a good, fun time at the museum. Word of advice though, if you are staying for 2 exhibits in 1 day, please bring in some packed food like sandwiches, fruits etc. I can almost guarantee you will take up to 2 hrs average per exhibit which by then you will be left FAMISHED.

No kidding. There are no food stalls within the museum and with the tickets you are not allowed to reenter once exit so, bring some food along~~

We first headed to Dreamworks Animation but unfortunately cut short our tour at The Deep because we were so hungry by 230pm. We went in at about 10am.
If we were not so famished, we would have stayed on longer at The Deep exhibition. Pity.

Visuals below.
It was the Golden Jubilee weekends in celebration of Sg50 and hence the decorations along the Esplanade area and the museum's open house are all #Majulah Singapura!

Went with my ger and her sis~ Always so glad to have a arts khaki. The Dreamworks Exhibition is a dream come true for all adults and kids who have ever watched a Dreamworks production film.

The exhibition explores 3 mainstays of animated film: Character, Story and World. Through each section visitors are able to follow through on the creative journey from sketch to a fully animated feature production.

KUNGFU PANDA! Time to rewatch this film...
In the Character zone, we watched how animators create expressions and bring the chracters to life.

PO!

The sketchings are so adorable!!!

Po in all possible movements and angles.

SHREK.

MAGADASCAR

Look at the details and precisions the animators drew out. Even nitty gritty ones like where to put in curves or straight lines.

STORY Zone explores the process of constructing a feature-length narrative from inspiration to final storyline.
T
his interactive table projection is awesome. Ideas for future meetings? Everything is moving and projected on the blank canvas.

another interactive experience by changing facial expressions of characters

The WORLD zone focuses on the complex and magical environments crucial to DreamWorks Animation films,

Berk Island Model, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2010

Dragon Flight- A Dragon's eye view of Berk.
Not forgetting the very thrilling 180 degree animated environment stimulation featuring foortage from How to train Your Dragon. If only there there are rotating seats as well, then it would have really been a 4D expereince. Nonetheless, this ride was fun and you gotta try out!

2nd Exhibit: The Deep
Be in awe and dumbstruck  over specimens of fauna from the deep oceans in different zones:
- 150m - 600m: The Twilight of the Ocean
- 600m - 1000m: The Appearance of Colour
- Beneath 1000m: Dive into the Extreme
This exhibit aims to educate on the fragility of the ocean system due to human's overfishing and disruption to the deep oceans. We were really fascinated by what goes on in the deep sea, relatively still much unknown to the human population.

Not much pictures from The Deep coz too busy looking. This exhibit is really educational and inspiring, do head over if you love sea creatures and sea life.

Tempted to see them for yourselves?

Dreamworks Animation runs till 27 Sep
and The Deep runs till 27 Oct 2015

Till next time!
