Yoogane Singapore's Official Opening Celebrations- Korean Dakgalbi Delight (유가네 닭갈비)

by - Monday, July 21, 2014

Super honored and excited to be part of Yoogane Singapore's grand opening at Bugis Junction and their first venture into our little red dot. If you haven't already heard, long queues have been snaking from their store daily since its soft launch in June this year and that's how popular they are among Singaporean foodies who can't get enough of the K-wave, K-cuisine included.

Yoogane was established way back in 1981 in Busan, Korea and through its unique blend of galbi (갈비) sauce, managed to grab the love of many locals. With outlets spreading all over Korea, it's pretty easy to spot them. Having them officially in Singapore now is another story altogether.

All I can say is- Have your galbi fix right at home! I have Hazel ♥ along with me~

Yoogane's mascot welcomes you at their door- Chicky chicky.

Here's a look at the spacious dining area.

Great gathering for huge groups.

Finally the time came for the grand opening and guests were greeted by the Yoogane chicky mascot.
Cute right?

Of course, the opening was graced by the Korea counterparts of Yoogane as well.

After which, in line with the dynamics of Yoogane, we were treated to a flashmob dancing... Wow interesting. Who says food and dance cannot be connected?

watch them in action, video clips in my instagram: @jeez_jia~

Big group shot!

And we had our shot with Chicky too....

Alright, time to tuck in!
At the salad bar, free flow of sides are available for all.

Here are the sides of the day. We have Pickles, veges, freshly made Kimchi and special mention to the cabbage slices drizzled with Strawberry sauce. The strawberry flavor was sweet and nicely different.  We were told by Boss Alex that Korea outlets use Orange sauces as well.

Aprons for customers~

Here's how it works. If you order more than 1 main galbi order, the servers will cook 1 at your table while the other main will be cooked in the kitchen at the same time.
One order usually serves 2-4 pax and if you ever order 2, means you must be having a big group and having both orders served at the same time ensures you guys will have plenty to eat without having to wait for a 2nd round of cooking time.
You will understand what I meant when you see the portion of the servings later.

Here's what went on in the kitchen.

First up, presenting to you the Chicken Galbi with Chukkumi Octopus. $19.90.
The serving was really huge and generous and you can make do with sharing among 4 to 5 pax. For this, we added in Fried Rice and Mozzarella Cheese for a full galbi experience. Yummy-licious!!~~~~

Firstly, all the different kinds of vegetables, chicken and tokkpoki were stirred-fried...

Afterwhich, the Chukkumi Octopus were added in

Octopus began bubbling~~

The Fried Rice was then poured in, mixed with parts of the tender chicken meat.

Extra generous portion of  Moz Cheese were mixed in as a final step.

After some chop chop and melting, the fragrant, spicy Chicken Galbi with Chukkumi Octopus is ready to be served, perfect match with the gooey cheese.

Okay Eating Time! 开动了!잘 먹겠습니다

All ready to tuck into the Gorgeous-spicy galbi.

I am a huge rice +cheese lover and this galbi simply whips up my appetite, with mouthfuls of bursting flavors rolling in your mouth. Lovely combination there.

Need something cooling in the hot hot summer?
Look no further than in the Naengmyeong (Cold Noodles). $9.90

Basked in cool cold ice, this handmade noodles are a blessings in the heat. Drizzle down some vinegar and mustard and this becomes a refreshingly tasty delight.

Who doesn't adore Korean Seafood Pancakes? $16.90
Yoogane has their own style when it comes to how their pancakes are done.

This hot favourite comes in 1 size and the serving is huge, sharing is essential. I deem it suitable for 4 pax and more~ :)

Geneously spread with seafood lie prawns, squids and scallions, this pancake is so fluffy thick and yet Crispy! Has been a long time since I ate such crispy pancakes. Big thumbs-up.

We are down to our final highlight of the day- the Seafood and Chicken Galbi. $48.90 (2-3pax); $58.90 (3-4 pax).
With Yoogane expect nothing less from their unique spicy sauce, for a satisfying galbi experience. Chicken, squids, octopus, prawns, clams etc mixed with abundance assorted vegetables and tender fresh chicken bites, this is a must-order for seafood lovers.

Look at this generous serving! Seriously this is the 2-3 pax portion but well you know what I am going to say right? Get more people to share the Yoogane love and make your bucks worth.

For this combie, Alex recommended the 'Combination fixings' for us which included 2 types of Oh-So-Amazing Potato noodles and Ramyeon noodles. I am not exaggerating on their chewy and springy textures, topped with fantastic spicy paste. The set comes with sweet potato, tteokbokki, mushrooms and more vegetables! $10.90

Seafood was fresh and deliciously well combined with the glabi sauce and all the wonderful ingredients complement each other.

Pour in the 2 kinds of noodles and you are on your way to a tasty, fulfilling happy meal!

How does this look to you? Tempting?

We seriously L.O.V.E Yoogane!
Was so blissfully-filled, wished I have more stomachs. Try them if you are craving for serious authentic Korean Galbi whenever.

Special thanks to Boss Alex for the warm hospitality and showering us with such huge generosity. Really enjoyed the fabulous food  from Yoogane and the friendly, attentive service crew.
