[ Walk around Singapore] Amazing architecture along Keong Saik Street, Neil Road.

And so I walked....
One fine day I found myself along Keong Siak Street and went exploring....

I didn't realized there were so many boutique hotels clustered in this area and was stunned by the lovely interface of modern versus olden day restoration. Not to mention, super amazement at how these colonial-days buildings have been restored to it's present days beauty and glory, basking along Singapore's ever changing skyline.

Tong Ah Coffee Shop, which for the last 75 years, housed at the same location has now shifted out of this icon red and white building, to another new shophouse, thankfully just few doors down the same road. This iconic building, bearing the start of Tong Ah since 1939, should definitely be preserved.

Few months down the road, I went back again and well, do you spot a difference in the interface of the building?
Spot 'Potato Head'? Yes, the famous Bali Beach Club- Potato Head Folks now occupies the building and I read that only the burger operations Three Buns are opened to walk-ins. The Studio 39 and The Roofttop are reservations-only and closed from general public like you and I. Are the burgers really as good as acclaimed overseas? I wonder.... but I heard prices are not cheap.

Anyway, walking down 3 mins or so, now at 35 Keong Saik Street, we have spotted the bright yellow sign of Tong Ah Eating House.

Of course, the place has been refurbished and looks pretty new, no signs of nostalgic if you re looking for any.

However the folks at Tong Ah still uses the 'traditional way' of the now, with electric-grill of course. We can expect charcoal right?

Ordered the thin version of the toast for some crispy munch sandwiched with butter and kaya. For this portion it costs $1.80. Slightly expensive no? Or is this the standard? Seldom eat toasts outside.

Teh-O ( tea without milk) costs $1.10

Continuing from Tong Ah, if you turn back towards The original iconic Tong Ah Building, People's Park/Chinatown is in view.

If you move forward in the other direction, Pinnacle@Duxton, Singapore's 'classiest' HDB to date, is just in view.

More of  such colonial-days architecture with either eateries or hotels.

Isn't this lovely? I never noticed this building at all. I believe it's an office of some sorts.

And... look! Occupied by AIA, this 1920 building stood proud and tall amidst the buzzing street.

On the other side of Keong Saik Street, along Bukit Pasoh Road, there are many boutique hotels, offices as well.

... Such as the New Majestic Hotel

Restaurants just behind the Dorsett Hotel along New Bridge Road.

Along Bukit Pasoh Street, there are many Chinese associations and Clans buildings

and of course shops shops and shops.

The Gan Clan Association

Bridal Shops....

Design firms, printing firms and whatnot..

I am ending the post here... haha not exactly sure how, but yup that's the end of my little exploration in my own country. I will do some food reviews on the Everton estates' (nearby to this area) cafes soon. Cheers!
