[Makan Time] Manbok BBQ 만복갈비
And so 1 day 언니 (big sis whom I met on a trip) and I decided to go pig out on some authentic Korean cuisines. Where else can you find a conglomerate of Korean restaurants besides Tanjong Pagar? We had wanted to dine in Supulae after a friend's recommendations but surprise surprise they only except reservations and not walk-ins. I didn't know that~~ So popular? Have you guys been to Supulae before? How was the experience and food taste?
Anyway feel rather disappointed and super duper hungry, we headed to the nearest restaurant available and settled on Manbok Galbi 만복갈비. It was fairly empty when we first arrived, perhaps we were early, reaching there about 6.10pm. Slowly as the night progressed, the restaurant was filled and a long queue ensued.

The 2 of us merely ordered 2 main dishes but it was really filling and more than enough.
First up- The 'BBQ Set B' came in a super huge portion, stating it was for 2 -3 pax. Costs $49 but we believed it's enough even for 4 pax and was considered a lot for just 2 pax to eat just on its own.
Anyway, the set comes served with a whole tray of fresh vegetables.
The staff helped us to cook out the meat.... but still be prepared for some oil slashes.
The set comes with endless delicious side dishes (banchan)! Seriously I love side dishes more than mains sometimes. These side dishes from the BBQ sets, I realized, are different from those served from the ala-carte mains orders.
The set consists of a mixture of chicken, and pork in different cuts- Pork Belly, Pork ribs (Galbi) and marinated in different flavours.

On a side note, we were there on another occasion and ordered just the ala-carte mains served with the banchan as shown below. You can see there's a difference between BBQ sets and those not. These are more "inferior" and not as good as those served above.
Not knowing that the BBQ set would actually be that huge, we thought we would still be hungry and so ordered the BuDaeJjigae 부대찌게 $28 way in advanced.
I really liked it except for the fact that we were already quite full with the BBQ set. However, in order not to waste food, I am proud to say we managed to complete almost all the food.
Imagine 2 girls eating so much hahahah.
Manbok BBQ is your typical Korean eatery with fast service. Food wise I recommend the BBQ Set as it's really worth the money and comes with much veggies and sides. The restaurant is noisy with chatters everywhere and it's not really a place for intimate chats. However if you don't mind the bustle it's a place not bad for eating and drinking with friends~~
