[Cafe Hopping in Singapore] Chye Seng Huat

by - Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Okay I think most Singaporeans and even tourists, know about Chye Seng Huat. But are they worth the hype? I went to check them out on a weekday afternoon.

Innovative Menu display.
There wasn't much of a food selection and so if you are looking to satisfy your hunger then you might be disappointed.

Cakes and muffins on display

More sweet stuff.

Here comes the food!
I ordered the Smoked Chicken Wrap $12 and Espresso + Milk (Regular) $5.50. There's no service charge here.
Verdict? Of course the Espresso was wonderful as would be expected from a coffee place. Strong flavour, freshly brewed.
The food? Well, a bit disappointing. Maybe it's supposed to be served cold but well, there was nothing much to shout about. Basic wrap with some meat and veg... pretty much cold and tasteless.

Maybe other selections would have been better? Anyone tried their food before? How was it?

Lovely Latte art

Food aside, I love the decorations and settings of the cafe and could see why it's such a hot spot to be in.

Overall, service was mediocre, no friendly smiles when I ordered or when food was served.
Nothing much was offered as a value added incentive for me to return.

Located along the quaint streets of  Tyrwhitt Road might have make it an attractive hideout, away from the town area.

Pretty architecture of the surrounding area....

But will I return? Probably not.
Singapore has plenty of other wonderful cafes serving artisan coffees waiting for us to explore.

Contact them:
Nearest Station: Lavender MRT. Walk past the Jalan Basar Stadium (Horne Road) and along the shop houses.

Thanks for reading~~ Till next time~~
