A Japanese Cuisine Affair At Barashi-Tei

Barashi-Tei is a waterhole sushi eatery located alongside a row of shop houses opposite Kaplan Educational Institute and just beside its famous cousin — Le Cafe Confectionery & Pastry, famed for its chilled bean curd tarts. Blink and you will miss it (almost).
Serving comfort Japanese cuisines, this restaurant opens till 2 am daily (except Sundays), and should make for an excellent supper place! Choose from sushi, seafood platters, skewers and more. Definitely a place for a decent Japanese treat without burning a hole in your pockets.

Here's what's in-store at Brashi-Tei.

When it comes to Maki, nothing comes close to having the jelly soft salmon slices. Hands down.
We sampled 2 versions of the salmon maki and a salmon sushi variety and I had thoroughly enjoyed all versions. Bursting with flavor and sweetness from the fresh salmon slices together with the compliments of the various ingredients like seafood, veggies etc., I would recommend ordering the Makis.
1. Unagi Salmon Mentai Maki (Unagi, Salmon, Egg, Cucumber) $14.80
Enjoy not just salmon but the savory Unagi in between crisp cucumbers and mashy soft egg.
Simply Oiishi!

2. Spicy Salmon Maki (Tempura Prawn, Broiled Salmon with Special Spicy Sauce) $14.80
Stuffed with crispy Ebi in the core, you can easily taste the mashed up combination of soft salmon and tangy Ebi. The flavor was truly enhanced with the tangy-spicy thick sauce and brought the satisfaction one notch higher.

Aburi Sake Sushi (Torched Salmon) $9.80 (for 2 pieces)
For sushi, we had this simple and delish torched salmon. The slight char on the top layer brought out the fragrance and a nice chewy texture between the cooked and raw portion.

Ika Kabayaki (Grilled Squid) $16.80
Tangy squid, grilled and drizzled with sweet Teriyaki sauce.
What's there not to love about this simple delight?

Deep Fried Softshell Crab $12.80
Everyone's all time favourite. Crispy soft shell crab fritters.

Ikura Chawanmushi (Chawanmushi with Salmon Roe or Plain) $6.80 each
We loved the smooth silky steamed egg makes easy consumption.
Gone in a minute.

Foie Gras Sushi $15.80 (for 2 pieces)
Want to indulge in Foie Gras? Now, you can have it in the sushi style.
Not everyone favors Foie Gras but if you do then this is for you because the other layer is slightly grilled and unlike most, is less marshy on the insides.

Moriawase (sashimi 12 pieces) = $28
A platter of various sashimis that would satisfy everyone's taste buds.

Wagyu Beef Don $38.80
Beef Lovers
How about some Wagyu Don? Grilled Wagyu sliced that are slightly charred on the outside and ½ raw on the inside. Served with an onsen egg with drizzling egg yolk in the don as a dipping sauce and you are good to go.

Kushi Mori (Skewer Platter 8 sticks) $18.80
If you don't know what to eat or choose then get the skewer platter which consists of different types of grilled meat on the likes of beef, chicken, bacon, quail eggs and mushrooms.

Gelato $5.80 (single scoop - Pistachio), $4.80 (single scoop - other flavours)
For a sweet ending to the perfect meal, end it with their in-house gelato in yuzu or sesame.
Refreshing sweet treats!
