WALLET-FRIENDLY FUSION CUISINE AT UPPER PLACE, WANGZ HOTEL ( TIONG BAHRU)

What A View
Celebrated the birthday of one of my bestie and as requested by the birthday girl, we savored some really fine fusion European plates infused with Asian influences. Helmed by Chef Gregory Lau, this quaint, stylish dining place is located right on the rooftop of Wangz hotel, offering a panoramic view of the beautiful city skyline, overlooking to Pinnacle at Duxton.

Views aside, we truly enjoyed our time there, with the tantalising cuisines. Exquisite plating, delicate servings very much big on flavors and taste and leaves you yearning more.

 Below was what we had.

Lunch Set (3 Courses)
$24
Appetizer: Slow Cooked Pork Belly Taco
spread with homemade BBQ sauce, Crunchy veggies and lime.
This was the first plate served and we all enthralled by the mini exquisiteness. Savory-sweet BBQ sauce enveloped the pork belly and in all yumminess. The lime gave the taco a zesty perk-me-up.

Main: Miso Norwegian Salmon Trout
Embroiled in Daikon Soup, Curry Oil, Nori and Baby Turnip.
This beautiful baby steak is flavorsome, carrying the Daikon's (winter radish) sweet nature. The
added dashes of curry oil adds spurts of hotness and a hint of Asian notes to it all. A wonderful, hearty main course to start things right.

The set lunch ends off with a dessert.
Dessert: Matcha Parfait
Red Stew Beans, Black Sesame Coulis
Does it looked like fried fish skin? Opps, that was my first thought at the crepe standing out. Fret not it's anything but.
A layer of oil sits with the sesame colis ( thick puree sauce) and you are expected to dig through all the 3 layers in one go. This is not sweet at all and suits matcha lovers.

The fun goes on, we had to order their best sellers and most instagrammable plates of course.

Ala-Carte
Tuna Tartare
$14
Looking absolutely gorgeous and stunning, this Tuna Tartare looks good in every angle right?
Anticipate the combination of Yellow Fin Tuna with Onion Truffle compote, Avocado Coulis and Tobiko, all on top of the crunchy tart base.
It was a new acquired taste but definitely putting us in a positive happy mood.  Must order.

Galaxy swirl.

Lobster Kueh Pie Tee
$10
Not your typical Kueh Pie Tee. This lobster meat filled crispy cup comes filled with Tomato Chipotles,  Coriander and Mango. Refreshing sweet tone, all popped in your mouth in one bite. Yummilicious!

Chocolate Lava Cake
 $12
Lastly, we ended on a sweet note with another dessert.
The oozing chocolate lava came topped with Sea salt caramel gelato and seasonal berries. Beautiful plating once again and no doubt it was satisfying and left us in glee.

Conclusion
In all, we really enjoyed the food. You would have expected for such fine dining place will cost you a bomb. Gladly the prices here are really affordable and a great way to share and taste a bit of everything. Of course, the food and taste is perfecto as well. Definitely a place to recommend for the upcoming festive gatherings!
