Chef Yamashita
If you haven't already know, chef was the one helming the kitchen behind Flor Pastisserie at Duxton hill back then. He later left and went on to run his own highly successful Japanese artisan patisserie at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, also going by the same name. I myself have been there on several occasions to purchase the delish and good-looking cakes. Soft, light and fluffy, the cakes never disappoint on their texture and taste, are mild and not overwhelming sweet. The pastteris are ostly deliicate pieces
Chef Yamashita was trained at Tsuji Culinary Institute, a well known culinary institute in Osaka, Japan. After gaining experience at various patisseries around Japan for a decade, he opened his own in Nara and became a well known name. Eight years on, yearning for new challenges and a change in scenery he moved to Singapore and took charge of the kitchen at Patisserie Glace and the rest as they said, is history
Live Baking Demo
We were hosted by the very amiable and humorous chef at Bosch which chef is an ambassador of for his new book's launch. It was a simple gathering of like-minded foodies and Chef was present to demostrate his delectable sweets baking. Of course we had fortune to taste the freshly baked treats too!
Here's first taking a tour at Bosch and their sleek showroom
Chef starting his Demo with the Yuzu Chiffon Baking. This is the latest product to be sold at Chef's store and we sear by its really softy fluufy and melt- in- your-mouth slight sweetness.
The ever Jovial Chef was all smiles.
The hearty and ever so cherry chef whipped up some yummy whipped cream formulation for the Yuzu Chiffon's decoration.
Using Bosch's electrical appliances in progress
And when the chiffon is readily hot from the oven, Chef brought it up for all to view. Proudly. =)
Here's the done up version of the Yuzu Chiffon~~
We also had the chance to try out another new product- The Sakura Roll. Pretty in pink and made from sakura essence for the sweet saltiness.
Wishing Chef Yamashita's Latest recipe book to be a roaring selling success!
