[FOOD REVIEW] THE DISGRUNTLED CHEF ( DEMPSEY)

R.E.L.A.X.
This post is way overdue~ But thanks to my bestie ger Jiehui's bd celebration, I had the chance to dine in at The Disgruntled Chef. Not a place that would cross my mind given it's fairly secluded location. Ger's great taste in fine dining has led us to this special location at Dempsey Road set against the lush and hush greeneries.
Choose from indoor or outdoors according to your preference~~

Enjoy the overhead ceiling fans swirling amidst the insects singing and birds chirping ( imagine for a while if it's not there at the moment), chill and dine in luxe. Have a champagne or cuppa. CHEERS.

Dining wise, the menu was not a whole lot of spread and is limited by the time you visit. In that case we visited in the day, brunch time and amusingly what was written on this board, in this case, was not available in the day time, but for weekdays.
Take heed indoor seating is au naturel, with no/barely there light sources and has no air conditioning.

They spot a fun slogan at the menu : ORDER. EAT. DRINK. REPEAT.
How true!

Food was splendour!
Only Small Plates were available then, for that timing. If I remembered correctly.

Truffle Mac and Cheese $21
This yummy macaroni was embedded in crayfish, black truffles and lots of cheddar cheese baked to crispy crust perfection. Break in and dig into huge spoonfuls of cheesy macaroni.

Think fresh succulent crayfish and cheddar mix spoons of  yumminess!

Mentaiko Pasta $32
We absolutely heart this max! Fine angelic hair cooked and well mixed in with the pickled-ginger flavored mentaiko sauce and topped with pan seared juicy scallops and lots of bonito flakes.
We just wish the portion was bigger.

Chocolate Fondant $16
Sweeten your tooth. What flows through is not just molten dark chocolate but also guess what? Peanut Butter! Yes, accompanied with Banana Brulee and cold smooth Vanilla Ice Cream~
The first fondant collapsed and didn't turn out well but the crew was very polite to inform us and had the kitchen remade for us. As a result we waited for 30 minutes over more but the wait was worthwhile when the plate was presented to us.

Here's the finished display BEFORE we "broke" it....

and ... AFTER we cracked it open!

All the precious goodness oozing out~~ Have I got you drooling?

Not your typical cafe but occasionally, life calls for some little indulgence and sweet flavors don't we?

The Disgruntled Chef might just make the best place to impress your next date or bring your loved ones there for a happy time spent away from the crowds and buzz of the city.  You can even take a stoll round Dempsey thereafter =P
