Craving for "don" or "donburi" ( Japanese rice in a bowl) but clueless as to what to choose from the endless combinations available out there? Here's a suggestion, try out Sumiya's.
You cannot miss out the authentic delectable delicacies at Sumiya Charcoal Grill Izakaya. Serving fresh, sashimi daily these don set lunches are super popular with the lunch crowds with its very reasonable pricing and fresh fish sweetness.
Just in case if you are clueless about Japanese language ( very much like me), here's a breakdown:
Bara: Sashimi chunks Vs ( Chirashi: Sashimi slices)
Kaisen: Seafood
Don: rice/Japanese rice
There you have it the brief behind all the different combinations of dons you can find so popular among Japanese restaurants in Singapore.
What's in the bowl?
Huge, thick chunky chubes of salmon , maguro (tuna) and hamachi (yellowtail) paired with avocado chunks and topped with tobiko (flying fish roes) and bursting bites of ikura (salmon roes). Life is a pleasure indulging in such sweet freshness. Oh love.... The chewy tender and succulent chunks were such a delight to savor.

Comes served with yuzu dressed salad, chawamushi, pickles, miso soup and chewy soft mochi as desssert to end your meal. This is the most value for money Kaisendon I have ever come across! What say you?
Choose between steamed rice or sushi rice but I say best done with sushi rice!
There are other types of set lunches available as well.
Go ahead and try them out!!
Despite the huge crowd, the service crew were efficient and friendly. Kudos to that.
