[Food Review] The Betterfield cafe (Waterloo Street, Bugis)

by - Thursday, March 26, 2015

Was introduced to this relatively unknown place by a friend who saw lots of Instagram posts on their much appealing food and so we headed down for dinner on a weekday. Relatively empty, the Betterfield is located in a corner right at the end of Blk 261 Waterloo Street. Blinked and you will missed it- well almost.

The food was surprisingly good for a first try. Here's what we had.
Pulled Duck Burger $20.
This is a gem. Strips of pulled duck infused with spicy Thai chili. Experience bursts of spiciness, sweetness, saltiness and limey-sourness all mixed together. Sandwiched between relatively crispy charcoal bun, I was marveling at what a yummy combo this was.

Comes served with crispy fries and homemade tangy sauce.
The chef who had years of experiences cooking for hotels and restaurants, created his own recipe and the delectable taste was quite evident.

Next up
Secret Thai Chili Chicken $14.50.
Looks seriously tempting right? Indeed they are!
8 pcs of chicken battered and deep fried, drizzled with spicy Thai lime sauce making a delicious snack. Oily for sure, yet super crispy, fresh and juicy tender. Good for sharing!

I would say the menu is quite limited for now and I am not sure what would attract me to go back again. Perhaps when there's more selections?
I understand the Duck Confit is another popular item on the menu, have you tried it before? How do you find their menu?
However, I would recommend you to drop by if you are nearby and try the Pulled Duck Burger and Secret Thai Chili Chicken. :D
