[What to do in Singapore] Ernest Zacharevic street murals exploration
You don't have to go to go to Penang to see Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic's famous mural arts.
I am sure you have heard about his spectacular pieces of art. By using mixed medium of both paints and real objects, he has always been able to engage and delight his audiences when they interact and take photos with these murals. Coming alive, he became famous with his works in Penang which has no become a tourist attractions and which I will blog about later.
Now, however you can find them right in Singapore! These murals were done in the late 2013.
Searching for these treasures are pretty easy.
Alight at Bugis Station and head towards Exit B ( Raffles Medical Centre)
Afterwhich you will come out to Victoria Street . Walk straight and along Jalan Pisang is the first mural you will come across. The unmistakable Girl playing with a Cub.
Carrying walking straight along the pavement and take note of the minor streets on the right till you come across 'Jalan Klapa'. Simply will take 10 mins or so.
There along Jalan Klapa will the an 'AMC!' building...
On the AMC! building will be Ernest Zacharevic's other installation.
See 2 Boys Climbing in and out of the box?
Round about the corner and you will find a continuation of the art installation
Then there's this masterpiece highlight: 2 Children on the Trolleys.
Very Singaporean style isn't it? Loving the localized flavor Ernest Zacharevic has done up for us with the 3D Handles you can grab onto for photos. Cool right?
Moving forward towards the mosque's direction, don't miss out on the small installation on the right,
Notice the plain white wall? It's right there.
There we have it, Boy Peeking Out form a box/window. Whichever way you interpret.
Afterwhich cross over to the Mosque- Masjid Malabar, on the opposite side.
Turn right and head down towards Lavender's direction, towards the bus stop named 'Opp Blk 461'
Either way, both bus stops along the stretch has bus no. 33. Look out for that.
From there on board Bus no. 33 and alight at 'Befo Joo Chiat Place' Bus stop.
It takes 13 stops to reach this place and about 25 mins.
Move forward and turn right where the bus turns and walk towards 'Joo Chiat Place'
Along Joo Chiat Place, you will come across the famous Kim Choo Dumplings
and the well-known Fei Fei Wanton Noodles is also just across the street. Look out for the blue canvas roof
Cross over from the Kim Choo Dumpling location and spot the building 'Everitt Edge' on the opposite. Walk straight along 'Everitt Road' direction.
Pretty soon once you are nearing the end of Everitt Road, you will spot the painting on the huge building on the left.
So excited to find them!
From what I read previously, These 3 road blocks used to be 3 cute lovely MINIONS!!
not sure why but it was repainted over sadly.A real pity they are now gone
These were how they looked like before
