Sprouted Grains are even Healthier!
The Grainology Experience by Sunshine was held @ The lovely gardens of Botanic and we had the chance to preview its launch.

Here we are at the  Botany Centre right inside the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Bet you didn't know this exists. Neither did I. This is the heartbeat of the Botanic Gardens where research, development and cultivations take place. Akin to how sprouted grains are cultivated in USA, they followed the same procedures and guests were given a tour around, in view of the launch of Sunshine's Sprouted Grains series.
Of course the grain types under cultivation at Botany Centre is different.

 We have...
1st step @ the Transfer Room

Step 2: @the Culture Room

See the seeds sprouting healthily?

Step 3 @Shaker Room where nutrient solution is shaken to improve supply to the tissues.

And what was interesting was that there are many personnels holding the sunshine standees. hahah... quite nice I would say, adds on a human touch.

With a three-fold increase in the consumption of wholegrains food from 2004 to 2010, Singapore is leading the region on the paradigm shift towards healthier eating. As our society becomes better informed and sophisticated, our palates have become more discerning and so has our appetite for healthier food. We are smarter in looking out for healthier nutrition and ingredients, while avoiding those that are not. We are not just looking out just for low calories and cholesterol, but also for foods with low Glycemic Index, and more.

We were given a welcome address & introduction of The Grainology Experience by Mr Nicholas Koh,  Head of Marketing of Sunshine Bakeries & Auric Pacific Marketing.

After which we had a very cool, interactive video segment presentation by Ms Cynthia Harriman, Director of Food & Nutrition Strategies, US Whole Grains Council (WGC). All the way across the globe, it was 2 a.m in the wee morning from United States when Ms Harriman skyped with us. From her short yet informative session with the audience, she gave her speech on  WGC’s background, role & objectives; why sprouted grains are even healthier and announced their first-time partnership with an Asian bakery to educate consumers in the importance of sprouted wholegrains and the endorsement of the US World Grains Council Stamp of approval with Sunshine Bakeries'.

Totally enjoyed watching this video conference.

Next, Ms Ketki Vinayachandra, a certified nutritionist and naturopath, gave her Point of View on the Wholegrain Goodness. Some of the topics she touched on include:
§ Good carbs vs. bad carbs
§ Clinical nutrition of wholegrains
§ The evolution of the average Singaporean diet
§ Nutrition intake lacking in adults and kids
§ Nutritional challenges and solutions

Now I know what you have been waiting for ! Here comes the most exciting part where we got to try the Sprouted Wholemeal Bread. High Tea Time!

Really love the Sprouted Grain Wholemeal Bread which is as soft as marshmallows ( I am not kidding, akin to your normal white bread's texture), but of course packed with more vitamins and nutritional benefits and way better for your health than ordinary refined bread.
Make this selection your new daily breakfast choice!

While you are looking at these mouth-watering snacks, let me explain what is sprouting any why they are good and better for your than ordinary wholemeal.
Sprouting is what seeds do naturally, when the right moisture and temperature are present. When a grain kernel begins to sprout, the process unlocks many of the grain’s nutrients, making them more absorbable by our bodies. Grains store their energy in the form of starch, a complex carbohydrate that taxes our digestion. Sprouting activates the transformation of starch into simpler molecules, improves the low glycemic index and making it easier for our digestion

Studies have shown that sprouting increases folate, Vitamins Bs and C, as well as iron, essential amino acids, while reducing gluten load! How amazing is that.
It also increases soluble fiber, which helps maintain healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels. In turn, this reduces the risks of diabetes and heart diseases.

Now, you can absorb all these benefits and more in just one product! That's none other than the Extra Fine Sprouted Wholemeal Bread from Sunshines. Retailing at $2.80 per loaf, at all major supermarkets,  these soft breads provide your family's energy fuel to start off any day.

In addition to this exciting launch, there are 3 new bread roll flavors to take note of when you are bread-shopping.

Made from choc wholemeal, these choc breads are big on taste and packs much nutrients as well. I love Cocoa Roll best. Plus, embossed with the Singapore’s Healthier Choice logo, you can with a peace of mind and at ease. All these and more… retailing for just $1.00 each.

Lastly, we were given a closing speech by Mr Girish Giovanni, Brand Manager of Sunshine Bakeries
