[Food Review] Sukiya Dinner Steamboat Buffet

by - Monday, April 21, 2014

Have been wanting to try Suki-Ya for the longest time and finally had the chance to dine in at their Bugis+ brunch on a weekday night for dinner.
No queue on a weekday night! Many times I have passed by this place on weekend and the queue was loooooong. Glad we can skip the queue and proceed right in.

We paid $43.8 ($26.40 per pax) with GST and Service Charge; Total $55.55 for 2 pax.

Nice interior, maple leaves make you think of Japan?

Super excited at the All-you-can-eat Buffet style and all ready to charge!! Plenty of selections from veggies, to seafood, carbs like rice and noodles too.

This is our favourite... CHEESE BALLS!!

We took a lot of veggies and seafood of all sorts.
Plus, see our own sauce mixtures? ( left and right ends.)

Instruction menu in front of you to guide on what kind of sauces are best for the soup type. But of course, we didn't really care and concoct our own mixture based on what we liked. Haha. A range of sauces and condiments like spring onion, garlic, chopped chilies are available at the self-service station for your own creation.

You have 4 soup bases to choose from: Shabu Shabu, Sukiyaki, Kimuchi, Tonyu Miso.
We chose Sukiyaki (left) and Shabu Shabu (right). Both were Awesome! Thumbs up~~ seriously LOVE.

Shabu Shabu: Low in calories and light on the palate, this is a delicious and healthy stock made from simmered kelp.
Sukiyaki: A savoury-sweet soy-sauce base.

Of course, you can't miss out on the thin slice cuts of pork, beef and chicken. There are no fish slices here.
Just dip in the soup for 1 minute or so and the delicious meat will be cooked without much effort. Savor and enjoy!! Raw eggs are available and I was taught to dip the meat slices in the egg before dipping into the soup, cook quickly shabu shabu style, take it out and eat! Smoother and tastier flavor~~

Tip: Though the buffet states 100 mins but because there wasn't much crowd on a late weekday night we can slowly tuck in. So another benefit of going on a weekday~

Of course you can't end the meal without desserts and this buffet comes with free flow ice soft cream!! Omg even ice cream is of yummy. It's not really full milk ice cream, more like gelato. Anyway we can't get enough of the food and ice cream, but our stomachs can contain no more. :(
Don't order drinks if possible? When you drink, you get filled up more easily. If you are thirsty ( which I didn't really experience with Sukyiya Steamboat) you can just get their ice cream and cool down first? Save money and you can save more space for the goodies!

Go for some steamboat soon!
