[Food Review'] Oaka Ohsho@ Westgate and Ice Skating at The Rink

by - Friday, April 18, 2014

We were at Westgate one weekend looking for some dinner but every restaurant was packed full to the brim and the queue everywhere was horrendously LONG. I am not kidding when I said LONG, it was really like 10 or more pax per queue at every eatery corner, go head on to Westgate during dinner time to see it for yourself haha. With stomachs growling, we looked in vain walking around the huge shopping complex, searching in vain for food. Not until we spotted Oaka Ohsho! With no queue! I don't mean it in a bad way but it was a relief really. Japanese food Yea!

We haven't been in this place before but ordering was done via an ipad with clean interface. Very happy
Look out for their extensive menu!

Here's our order!
$14.90 Chicken and Double Cooked Pork Set
For quite an economical price, the portion was huge definitely. Pork was tender and chewy and every set practically comes with fried gyoza, which is the shop's speciality really.

My friend had the Gyoza Ramen Set $11.90.
Home-style ramen, simple yet tasty broth complimenting the 6 gyozas. We had a full meal just thereafter but it was a happy meal, not because we were hungry, but the food here was better than expected, serving time was pretty fast and price was reasonable too.
So when you are in Westgate next time and hate waiting in line everywhere, Oaka Ohsho is a pretty good choice for some fuss free, enjoayble and filling meal.

Saw Totoro at ABnC shop at Jem shopping mall, so adorable!! Okay I side-tracked.

Hello from Mei Kusakabe, CUTE to max.
Later I saw this while in Japan, but still I didn't buy her back. It's definitely cheaper in Japan than in Singapore.

We later headed for some ice skating at the JCUBE olympic sized ice skate rink~
Here's the locker areas! Locker costs $2 or $1? I forgot the pricing but remember to take out everything you need before you lock up, else you end up double paying. Or if you trust everyone else, you can leave your bags on the benchers at the viewing gallery, along the rink. That will be FOC of course.

Ice rink 'clean-up'.

That week we visited was the International Youth Hockey Ice Tournament and the rink was closed for many days restricting public access. Thus before heading down, always make sure to check The Rink's 'Happenings' for any upcoming events or block-offs.

Kids zooming past with such agility and grace. haha envy

Selfie at the rink with my ger!
We are no experts and can't zoom as fast as everyone else, in particular the young kids! Felt so sianz when they flew past us with such lightning speed and ease.
Really regret why we didn't learn ice skating faithfully when we were younger. For my children next time, I definitely will let them learn and master ice skating from young. This sport is just as crucial as cycling okay!

With my darlings!!!

Skates size 36 was too small for me, so were my gals who couldn't get accustomed to the skates and after 2 hours we were like old grannies, feet pain... hahaha.

Nonetheless, do something different and head on for some cooling fun in Singapore!
